MKO: John W. Lindh times tens of thousands
Imagine the American Talib, John Walker Lindh, times 30,000 or 40,000 thousands (more or less). People's Mojahedeen (or MKO) are the most hated group in Iran. You don't believe it, but many many people even hate them more than the clergy. Maybe the biggest reason is that they joined Saddam during the bloody 8 year of Iran-Iraq. Iranians know them as betrayers to the motherland who even joined the enemy and killed their Iranian people to fulfill their own political agenda.
They also assassinated many of the top thinkers and authorities of the Islamic revolution in the first years of the revolution which led to a lack of people who had the ability of thinking about the future and the appropriate strategy for the future of the revolution. With all their violent and bloody actions they even caused the regime to crack down on the relatively open political atmosphere, which eventually cost a lot for moderate opposition groups and ordinary people. At one point they started to kill whoever was supporting the revolution or had relations with Sepah-e Pasdaran (or Guardians of revolution) or even looked like them (full beard and special clothing style). I personally knew a grocery store owner who happened to be a strong fan of the regime and they killed him and his Pasdar son after a few months.
Now these bastards are making a scene by burning themselves for their leader, Masoud Rajavi, who is not much different than Saddam. I get very angry when I see that American and European politicians or their ordinary people are fooled by their well-organized and always dramatic protests.
Please, don't let them deceive you by their childish actions. They are terrorists who easily kill their colleagues because they refuse to obey their orders. They have absorbed the worst part of both Stalinist communism and Islam. They have to face justice in an international court, along with their biggest enemies, the dictator mullahs who started the whole violence in the name of Islam.

Hey Hoder
Im probably writing this in wain as I am sure you wouldnt show the opinions of a Mojahedin sympathiser. But still; If Mojahedin are so hated and despised by the public, why the hell must you spend so much time dissing them? After Mojahedin were terrorist-labelled by EU they received massive support from the other Iranian opposition-groups. This just show how serious Mujahedin are in their struggle, and how unreal the terrorist-accusations are.

To Polo: You know what, no matter they are good or bad, they do not have any populairty inside and outside of Iran, the theory of MKO is a dead and stinky corps. a nectar or Islam, Communism and adding violence and guns.. so what, they were different in 70's and 80's.. come on Polo, you know that you can not nail a dead body and tell people he was a great guy, let's worship him.. you know better than anyone that no one really likes them in Iran, so if people do not want them, what to they really want to prove? and also this pre-fabricated actions of buring themselves in front of people, because their spritual leader had been arrested, is showing another exterm and harash move but its leaders and their supporters, People like Neda Hassani should learn that her life to herself and her parents, friends and relatives and contributing to society but expanding knowlage and culture would help less people to suffer in future, Did that poor girl think that Rajavi worthed her life... another one bits the dust when Maryam Rajavi cheers in the crowed for plotting terrorist attacks or "fight against mullah's" ... poor girl...

Polo,
Good job. No party in Iranian politics has more blood on its hands than the ruling theocracy. Not by a long shot. Ask any member of the Iranian Tudeh Party, if you can find one. Purges during the mid-1980's all but wiped out what once was Iran's largest secular political movement.

i would like to have a few words with those in the left, middle, and in the right. Its about time that all of you wake up and smell the coffee. 30 years of experience tells me mojahedin monorchies and clerics are all the same fox with different color. The problem of iran can only be solved if the true people of iran rise up and elect the real govorment which brings democracy. Away from religons and left and rigts that come along. Anything else is to divert the people from real justice, and democracy for all.
---------
Is it possible that an Iranian Monarchy could be used to restore order, and create stability for now, with the promise full fledged Democracy for later? Just wondering.
---------
From my perspective in the U.S., it's hard to see how anything is going to improve the situation in Iran. Student demonstrations alone won't change things. Certainly a restoration of the old monarchy won't bring democracy and can't be that popular, so I can't see how a coalition with monarchists strengthens the students. Ditto for coalitions with terrorists, especially discredited fundamentalist terrorists. And you can forget about direct U.S. intervention -- the only thing that could possibly bring us in is an Al Queda connection or a full scale nuclear weapons program (and even then, I doubt we'd commit to more than a few air strikes on selected targets).
The only thing that might bring change is widespread strikes. That's what what it took to bring change to Eastern Europe. Even then, I'm not sure the Islamofacists would yield. But we're praying you finally get a democracy, hopefully without much bloodshed.

Most of Italian press is confusing Teheran's demonstrations with these terrorists. Tnx to u and other Iranian contacts I knew the difference before...I'm trying to say it aloud. It's hard when yo have a newspaper that sells millions of copies and doesn't say the truth. I'm sure some of them are doing it on purpose. Keep up with this great blog. Valerio, Italy ;)

MKO and MEK are the same. I read that Dan Pipe's article and it seems he knows absolutely nothing about this group, or even worse he knows a lot of things but tries to manipulate the truth to the benefit of his political agenda. This group has been (and is still) a terrorist group for at least past 20 years. The group is a kind of political prostitute which is clearly stated in Dan Pipe's article when he proposes to use them as a tool for spying and pressure on iran goverment.

Thanks for the insight, hoder. This stands in contrast to Daniel Pipes recent article about them. Are they also known as the MEK? Trying to make sure we're talking about the same group. I have a link to his article over here:

I'd love to hear your opinion of Pipes' statements..

You are right and I have same idea and I hate them and I know that they are really terrorist.

I'm no fan of the MKO, but you've got some facts wrong. "With all their violent and bloody actions they even caused the regime to crack down on the relatively open political atmosphere, which eventually cost a lot for moderate opposition groups and ordinary people." First off, the moderate groups had already been pushed aside when the conflict between the government and mko began. Second, it was the government that started the conflict with the MKO. I think the first incident was when a group of mko supporters, who were fighting against iraq were executed (Right at the beginning of the war).
furthermore "They also assassinated many of the top thinkers and authorities of the Islamic revolution in the first years of the revolution which led to a lack of people who had the ability of thinking about the future and the appropriate strategy for the future of the revolution" is pure nonsense. You can be sure the people that they killed were not much different than the ones alive today. Also, considering that it was the government who started the hostilities, they could be fair game.
Third, the government has killed way more mko supporters (most of whom were naive young people who were killed or imprisoned before the mko even went to iraq. One of my grandmothers neighbours had all 4 of his sons executed right after the revolution because one of them was an mko supporter.
Most people don't realise that the mko of the 70's and early 80's was much different (and in fact one of the most popular groups) than the mko of today which is much more like a cult than a politcal party.
i had a discussion with a friend about them a couple of nights ago. the transcript is in my blog.

Great post, Hoder. This explains the hatred of the MKO succinctly and clearly. thanks. -jeff
