True evidence that blogspot still being filtered in Iran

If you'd like to see what exactly is heppening to Iranian weblogs after the recent filtering in Iran, take a look at the stats report of a popular Persian weblog which happenes to be a little sexual. As you can see in this diagram, the page views have suddenly dropped to about %50 after July 9th and 10th. Therefore the rumors are true about blogspot still being blocked in Iran by most of the ISPs.

Please do something about this as much as you can. At least spread the sad news.

Update: A friend of mine has sent an email contaning the error message they get when they try to reach my weblog:

id be very happy to see ben edelman as involved as possible in this iran situation. in the meantime, there is now an entry at saoirse na hoige about iran and circumventor. anyone who doesnt know about circumventor yet should read it and follow the instuctions to set up your own. make sure to let the rest of us know what the url for your proxy is once it is set up, so it can spread and we can begin to test just what the response will be. circumventor entry can be found here: http://saoirse.oige.net/archives/000201.html

Hey Hossein, I asked a friend of mine, who happens to be an admin on one of __big__ ISP networks in Tehran. What 'Mokhaberat' does in this case is basically they drop the packets with certain ip numbers as their destination; This is why after blocking a bad(!) site, all other ones with are 'virtual host'ed there are also blocked. resolution? install, find and expand open proxies all over the net.

Balagan: I posted on Greplaw about this prior to July 9. So they are all caught up with the news about Iran until that date. But that's when the story started to get complicated. I'm not sure exactly what they're doing or how they're doing it. So I was not sure if I should ask Jason Shellen to change the Blogspot IP number the way he did with China because these mullahs seem more fanatical than the Chicoms. (They might just block the next number used.) Edelman has the background experience that would enable him to better analyze what is going on here and suggest appropriate strategies to deal with it effectively.

Hossein, if there's a way, maybe we can set up auxilliary blogs. By this I mean, if we can receive posts by email we can continue putting up information for anyone who's blocked on unblocked sites while we campaign against the censorship. This is just a thought of course, if there's any other plan of action, I'd like to be of help.
