Latest blacklist

According to an email from a friend, Iranian government has officially ordered all ICPs (Internet Connection Provider) and ISPs to ban my domain, hoder.com, in secret letter to all ICPs, along with dozens of other websites and weblogs.

Meanwhile, an MP said to ITIran that the committee of communications in Iranian parliament was going to investigate the recent bloackages.

The latest list mostly includes political weblogs and websites, as well as a couple of anonomizer services that enable people to pass the filters and access blocked websites.

Here is the complete list:

Just to let you know that the post about the war against the sat tv and blogs is up at the Grep Law blog. Your URL and permalink to this list is on it. Hope this helps.

Drop me a wire and I'll post links or blogging for Iranians seeking to remain anonymous.

I would like to write to the appropriate authorities and ask them to ban my weblog too. Glenn Reynolds said it best, "the blogosphere will dance on their graves."

I sumitted your situation (via the archival link) in an update story to the Greplaw blog-- that's associated with Harvard Law School's Berkman Center. There are people there, both super-geeks and international lawyers, who have experience with fitering the net and blockages, etc. But I still think you should get in touch with Ben Edelman about this and start a running correspondance with him. He has resources at his fingertips that I don't have. I am not very technically advanced. Fortunately, we even have teenaged kids in America who can run circles around these mullahs on the net. I mean, they rule!

Mohammad, it's not at all necessary to have browser access to a web site in order to update it. It could be as simple as sending the files via email or ftp to some trusted person outside the country. There are plenty other ways too.

Don't you know that saghf.com's editor and designer, Hamed Abdorrazzagh (Kashani), lives in Iran. If this website was blocked in Iran, how come would he be able to update his web site. I guess this is enough to show the credibility of your list!

I'll try to post this on Greplaw at Harvard Law School's Berkman Center. Now that they've got their new missile toy, they seem to think they're omnipotent. Toys can be broken. Maybe an elephant will step on it.

To all those who live in Iran in order to establish the cause of the recent block, please download visualroute from http://www.visualroute.com and try to reach the site supposedly blocked. You should then see where the block originates from. You should not be able to see the site directly, rather stumble across a blocking device in Iran... You can use any alternative traceroute utility
