I missed BloggerCon in Harvad because I'm Iranian
I'm so sad that I can't make it to BloggerCon in Harvard this weekend, although, thanks to Jeff Jarvis and Dave Winer, a free ticket was waiting for me there.
The reason? I still haven't got my Canadian citizenship and have to use my Iranian passport, which, you know, is worse than not having a passport at all! The U.S. embassy in Canada needs at least three months to issue a visa for me as an Iranian citizen, for which I have to do a personal interview as well. (The same thing has stopped many Iranian filmmakers to enter the U.S recently.)
That's funny, because I'm missing the BloggerCon for the same reason I was invited: I am Iranian.

9.3% of all households owned digital cameras discount in 2000, as opposed to 4.4% in 1999. 4.6% percent generlogies obtained a digital camera in 2000 alone according lowest to a Photo Marketing Association survey. The consumers airfare who own digital cameras are also more likely to cheap have computers, Internet connections, photo related ticket software and are more likely to use an Internet cheapest photo website to have prints or photo gifts made flight from them. I'm sorry to ruin this for you, but even with a Canadian passport, you still have to go thru much of the BS procedure, but virtue of being BORN in Iran!
I have my Canadian citizenship, and I travel a lot to the US, last year I went there 3 times, and EACH time I was interviewed, photographed and finger printed, just becuz I was born in Iran ... It's their new immigration act or something, and it's rather random, they might let you pass, but the fuckers in the Vancouver US immigration were brutal, no one passed thru their net. And the shitty thing is that if you go thru this ONCE, then you're in their system and you have to go thru this EVERY SINGLE TIME!
and you can only exit the states from certain exit ports (not all US airports included) and do the fingerprinting again! even when you're exiting.
It's a pain in the ass man.

I missed bloggerCon because I'm thrifty, I have children and everybody is going to blog about it anyway.

Try a virtual presence. Get a jug or pipeful of your favorite relaxation aid, then sit in front of your camera and join the party.

Dear Hoder: We missed you keenly at BloggerCon. The next best thing to being there might be an audio interview on my sight. See: http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/lydon/ Jeff Jarvis made the point forcefully in my interview with him that he considers you the classic demonstration so far of the real power and beauty of weblogs. How would I reach you by phone, please. Please email me! Thanks, admiration and best wishes.

Hossein jaan, I started my weblog-reading,reading your blog over a year and a half ago back in Iran. All of us at work would read it almost everyday. I am in Cali at the moment and have decided to start a blog (finally!). I just may need to ask a couple of questions. Would that be ok? And would you put my URL on your list? It will get better through time, you shall see!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work.

You and I are both security threats to the Land of Free. The delicate freedom and security of every American is at jeopardy because of "us".
now if every bomber and attacker on the Free World has been from some other country and I(or you for that matter) happen to share close to nothing with them is not American's problem. But they are weeding out terrorism
Being in that situation I ONLY felt sorry for many of those who felt even a bit safer after these measures were put in place. given that those banned from the country(or picked on) weren't the threat to begin with and won't be.
Cheers

Even better than a ticket it would be nicer if your host (to be) would bother to discuss these issues in his blog. But hey, that doesn't look very good on George Bush's regime, right? and may be that is why these things are not discussed in such blogs.

It is sad for sure, but not really unexpected! Although I've different situation than an immigrant, but getting to the right point is not that difficult.
Also I let you know even you got your citizenship the policy were not too different; all those stupid rules such as finger printing, positional record and getting memory(!) photoes were on.
