World66 and ethical question

I don't see the point to write for World66 for free while they are making good money out of Google Adsense ads on their pages. This may eventually act against their whole idea as people don't feel comfortable contributing to them.

It's not ethical to earn money from people's free contribution, is it?

The dedicated server lightness of touch is the saving grace—narrated online-casinos in standard prose, this would be at once online-casino unremittingly drab and thoroughly old hosting hat—that makes this doomed marriage different cheap web hosting from all other doomed marriages we have casino read about. It even makes it feel somewhat casinos

You are the last person that should be questioning someone's ethics. You are advertising on your site, so why can't they advertise on their site? It will be many years before you will be able to comment on ethics without getting the Blogrolling Security hole issue thrown in your face. Gooc luck.

This is of course an interesting question. Do we at World66 make money by exploiting the people who write for World66? I think not. And here´s why. For one displaying Google Ads is not a pot of Gold. It makes some money of course but for this money we have to host the site and maintain it. We spend tons of hours in providing the technology and we hope to see some return for that. My second point is more important. Our contributers help to achieve a common goal: travel info from everybody for everbody. Keep in mind that it is not our content. We do not own it (anymore). We made the content 'open'. It can be copied and used by everybody as long as they abide by the Creative Commons Licence. We just provide the ideas, the technology and the servers to make it happen. This reminds me a little of the cddb controversy a while back. The key difference is, they have an 'open' license for the content. If you don't like seeing the ads, just create your own mirror without the ads. If that's too much work, put your own ads on the mirror, and then you can profit as well! Finally, it's not like they haven't provided anything. They created a forum for people to share their information from travelling. It's also a centralized place for people to look for this kind of information. That seems like a pretty valuable service. In my opinion, I think it's perfectly ethical. Here's my question for you: Is it ethical for you to have an ad at the top of this very page? I mean, I'm about to contribute a comment to this site. Do I deserver a piece of your earnings?
