Welcome to Islamic Republic of America

The following part of Bush's answer about his faith really turned me off. This is what exactly Iranian clerics say when they want to get people's vote. I'm so sorry for Americans that their leaders are getting much more like Iranian clerics or what they usually call as Mullas. (From the transcript of the third debate)

BUSH: First, my faith plays a lot -- a big part in my life. And that's, when I answering that question, what I was really saying to the person was that I pray a lot. And I do. And my faith is a very -- it's very personal. I pray for strength. I pray for wisdom. I pray for our troops in harm's way. I pray for my family. I pray for my little girls.

Prayer and religion sustain me. I receive calmness in the storms of the presidency. I love the fact that people pray for me and my family all around the country. Somebody asked me one time, "Well, how do you know?" I said, "I just feel it." Religion is an important part. I never want to impose my religion on anybody else. But when I make decisions, I stand on principle, and the principles are derived from who I am.

I believe we ought to love our neighbor like we love ourself, as manifested in public policy through the faith-based initiative where we've unleashed the armies of compassion to help heal people who hurt. I believe that God wants everybody to be free. That's what I believe.

And that's been part of my foreign policy. In Afghanistan, I believe that the freedom there is a gift from the Almighty. And I can't tell you how encouraged I am to see freedom on the march. And so my principles that I make decisions on are a part of me, and religion is a part of me.

By the way, I had no idea that the word Liberal is like a swear in the U.S. as it is in Iran among conservative clerics, prior to coming to Canada.

Your website is just like all others in the way that it has chosen to mislead the reader. I am an American and I am not happy with Bush either, however you have taken two different comments made by him and meshed them in an attempt to make a political point that was NOT made by the president himself. I believe all of your readers should be made aware of this. The first two paragraphs come from the third presidential debate in which the candidates were asked about thier religious faith. The third and fourth come from an entirely different place (I am unsure as to where.) To be truley informed on the relativity and content of this Bushism google 'debate transcripts' you will find a link to the entire transcript of the third debate. Educate yourselves, don't believe all that you read and get to the bottom of things before you make a decision.

well come on now folks. just because the evil folks here are huge khomeini fans and adopt his ways and values, doesn't mean america is really all that bad. it's very sad that american culture has been hijacked by these american talibanis. we have given the world jazz, rock and roll, hip-hop, techno, jet airliners, the internet, the automobile, and movies. we know everyone appreciates all of that, but we are decadent and have allowed our political life to be dominated by fundamentalist and capitalist idiots. i'm not decadent, though, and neither are my friends. we are working very hard to project a better image of america to the rest of the world. bush is not going to be president forever. the pendulum will swing back, and the world will be grateful for the fact that a new generation with a vision of the POSITIVE potential of America has taken over and isn't letting go. have patience with us while our system's on the blink! we're fixing it for the good of all THIS YEAR!

Rube you got it, except you missed a few things as well. The current Iranian and American leaders do sound a lot alike...well except the Mullahs ruling in Iran do NOT have a legacy of being the only government that has ever dropped a nuclear bomb on a defenseless population! And oh yes, let's not forget the legacy of toppling third world democracies in the infancy and in favor of ruthless dictators (Chile, Iran, Guatemala, ...). And oh let's not forget, Iranian Mullahs can't claim credit for bringing Saddam and the Bath party to power in the 1960's as did the CIA. And oh yeah, let's not forget that Tehran's Mullahs can't claim scores for helping create the Taliban and Bin Laden, as did Ronald Reagan and Bush senior.... Go read your history!

Last night on french tv i saw a documentary about evangelists in United States. It was frightening it remind me exacly Mullahs preach in high school in the morning. Their speach against abortion, homosexuality and sexuality was like middle age ideas. But the difference is khomeyni wanted to change the islamic world but these christians fundementalists want change the world. Some of them came as a lobbyist in brussels, in european parlement. They critised european parlement being anti-religious. In interview one of them pretend that each christians must be ready to die for his faith, woauou i said to myself i escape from islamic republic and his obscurantism to hear that ? All night long i was thinking why ? lack of value ? need of spiritualism ? too much materialism ? After that i read an article about how CBS censored "60 minutes" where it shows how bush administration created fake documents to prove that saddam hussein bought Uranium from Niger to built atomic weapons. Where is going America ? Is this empire will bring us with him in darkness ? how could we resist ? we, people who believe into critical mind and reason have to fight against new ennemy who was before our ally.

The negative connotation of liberal is one of the great ironies of American culture. It was liberals who brought about civil rights, unemployment benefits, better health insurance programs, better education, and welfar, yet the word is treated as an obscenity. I think I'm quoting Michael Douglas in "An American President."

I have lived in the Us for nearly 6 yrs, and I have to say compared to the rest of the so called developd world, this is the most conservative country in every imaginable way possible; religiously, you already menttioned a facet of life in this country, in particular in the Southeastern pars of the country;socially, the idea of extreme individualism, as opposed to the more or less extreme state involved democracies in western Europe ; where else would you fine the idea of gun ownership as a constitutionally protected right vis a vis the broken system of health delivery wherein an approximate 45 million people are left to their own with no means of health care; the minimalist system of governance in which people pay the least amount of tax in the so called develope world, and government supposedly intrudes the least in people's affairs. The only irony is the same administaration who advocates advocacy of American way, establishes some of the most "un-American", draconian sets of rule, aka, "patriot acts", initiaating an unprecedented attack against some of the most basic and fundemental sets of freedom the inhabitants of this country have enjoyed at least on paaper. Talk of faith sounds hollow in a setting wherein rights of unborn and yet to be born are supposedly protected; however, the rights of already alive in many respects are at best ignored and at worst trampled upon. I suppose Bush and Co. could learn a thing or two from their immediate neighbor to the North.

Wow, that does sound a lot like Iranian leaders. Well, except for the missing "Destroy the Filthy Jews With Holy Fire" part. Or the missing bit about putting death sentences on people for writing books and stuff. Oh, and the stoning to death of homosexuals, infidels, fornicators, and rape victims. Other than that, a spot-on match. Poor Americans.
