Jim Muir left Tehran
Does anyone know why Jim Muir, the experienced BBC correspondent in Iran, suddenly left his job? Was it because of political pressure or other reasons? Anyone?
By the way, Frances Harrison has apparently replaced him.

BBC was told by Iranian authorities that Jim Muir was going to be expelled if he wasn't replaced. Jim Muir even wrote about that in one of his last dispatches from Tehran.

It could be entirely innocent. BBC foreign correspondents usually move on after several years, and he'd been in Iran since 1999. Perhaps he was just tired of dealing with the 'bureaucracy of a divided authority [that] often makes you feel you are trying to run through mud up to the waist'.

I think he left because his five-year term was over. Here is an interesting article about his memories from Iran.

I don't know why Muir is gone, but I do know that they've replaced him. I was just in contact with the two BBC women that they have over there.
