Christian Republic of America

You know what? I really think Iranians should export their revolution to America. They badly need it. Unbelievable, half of Americans go to Church once week at least? Even Iranians don't go once a week to Mosque, thanks to the Islamic revolution. So I guess America really need a Christian revolution, maybe people would see what religion really is.

The real scandal is that you haven't taken the time to know the most elementary facts about the United States. Try reading Tocqueville's "Democracy in America," and you'll learn that we are both the most religious AND the most secular country in the world. And always have been. Cheers Michael

Well, I know the media has pushed the God president thing for the last 2 years, and alot of people have bought into it. Because some dumb exit poll showed 22% of people placed morals as the top concern, the media is spinning that the entire country is a bunch of christian nutcases because that is the only way for them to explain a W win. 22% equates to the whole country, give me a break. The media has got it wrong yet again. Americans don't wear their religious beliefs on their sleeves and probably couldn't tell you what their next door neightbor's religion was if they even had one. They do not care what someone else believes, and they clearly understand the difference of allowing religion into public affairs and privately practicing your own beliefs. So the world can spin, but it doesn't make it so.

I agree. I believe America needs a Christian revolution. I am a Christian. I mean I actually serve God. So many Americans claim to be. Christianity is suppose to be a relationship but religious people give true christians a bad reputation. Why are so many people so decptive. I don't know a whole lot about Iran's situation but I wish you guys the best. I wish people every where could have complete freedom. Americans, and me too, tend to forget how blessed we are. We take to much for granted. I thank God so much for living in a free country but grieve for people all around the world. I heard that the Iranian government was going to take your internet rights away. So I thought I would check this web site out.God Bless everyone.

Dear Amir, certainly you need to read history. you said:"They migrated to the land of America in search of an asylum to continue their religious practice in peace". Please read the history to understand how peacefully they were for local people, when they entered to America.

Whether you agree or disagree, the government of Islamic Republic of Iran and chrisitan Republic of America have more in common than you know: Quom and the White House both belong to Hezbollah [Party of God]. Don't be shy you can call Bush and his allies Hezbollahi - you would be correct and they would appreciate it.

There is nothing wrong with being religious as long as you don't spread hatred toward other religious grous or other ethnicities. The religion that Mullahs are practicing in Iran is a discriminative religion which does not allow you to have it any other way other than theirs. This is exactly what makes religion dangerous not choosing to go to a church, synagogue or mosque. PEACE ....

Contrary to opinion elsewhere in the world, we are not entirely a bunch of religious zealots--at least 48% of us are not. That same argument however can be made about countries our government has labeled in the same manner. Regardless, most Americans consider themselves Christians even if they don't go to church at all. And when confronted with whether we are want to vote with the "righteous" or "evil" most of these people who are really only Christian in name choose "righteous" as defined by their fellow Christians. Sheep lead to slaughter by religion hellbent on running a nation. Why does this matter? Well despite the fact some folks imply that because we were founded by Puritans that we have always been religious radicals, we simply are not. We are misinformed, uninformed, or in some cases ignorant of the facts. We are guilty of being puppets for a wealthy, greedy, and corrupt right-wing agenda. We are misguided for believing that if a church thinks something is good then it is good. Like during the Salem Witch trials, we are being manipulated. We are not however religious zealots--more like apathetic followers than radical fundamentalists. Have faith out there people...there is a place for a government run by reasonable thinkers as well as a place for religion in people's lives. That place is not the polling place or the White House. Just give us 4 years to straighten this out.

So what they go to the Church once a week!! Do you want to look cool by saying this? What are these pretentious cries of "I hate religion"? You think by taking these possessions you can make yourself forget where you came from? What type of family you grew up in? God for bid if you Bache mosalmoon's try to illustrate a modern face! Please be real, there is nothing wrong with going to church or mosque, but there is something wrong with the woman who still wears chador!

How can you hate something which doesn't exist? I dislike organised religion because it takes good ideas and puts them out of reach of reason and evidence.

The moment politicians start using "the word of god" to enforce their plans, that very moment your alarms must ring and your should stop the shite from happening. Europe has experienced that for a long time during the dark ages. In Iran we've experienced that during the monarchy (shadow of God) and during the so-called islamic republic (representative of god). The difference here is that the immigrants who finally found of the American republic (many of whom religious believers) "fortunately" based it on 'democracy' and not 'theocracy', (logically) based on the experience and enlightenment of their fathers and forefathers who came from nowhere but the englightened Europe. In fact the American constitution could be labelled as the fruit of all the freedom movements and enlightenment activities of generations of thinkers in Europe. Now we Iranians - who are trying to get rid of our theocracy and move towards a popular democracy - understand better than anyone else what it means when religious jibbirish starts to take over, even if it happens slowly. Beware all Americans, do not let a group of powerful rich people steal the values that has made the United States what it is in the world. Even if you support Bush, do not let anyone harm your values by mis-interpreting them. Do not let the fear culture take over.

Guys! why do you always get things up-side-down! if Americans believe in these stuff,it's even worse!than iranian being forced to, isn't it? You see Matt!NWA! the mistake you guys always make is that you think being religious* is the only proof of having GOD's club membership! hang on but that's what Bin ladan & co think I'm sure you are wiser than that(or are you?)Friends! you have only read about that "religious* type of promise land" in the books;SURPRISE! We've been living it! and believe me it's nothing like those beautiful mouthwatering pictures you are staring at in "the book".Our little booklet(experiance)on "how to avoid getting hunted by religion*" may not seem handy to you now,but soon or later you are gonna need some advice on how to get rid of a monster called "religious* promise land"( don't hesitate) *:has got nothing to do with God(I'm affraid)

America is founded by Puritans. They migrated to the land of America in search of an asylum to continue their religious practice in peace; and their decadents made the powerful nation. Maybe it is the time to read more about the history.

Well, I think if I was from a country that was basically ruined by religious zealots I would have a negative view of religion.

I am Iranian and I don't believe in God but I disagree with you. Being religious or not doesn't say if you are right or wrong. your acts are more important than your beliefs. There are many religious people in the human history who achieved important things and they were very useful to the society they lived in. Your opinion is as bad as those who have forced us to leave our country.

why do you think religion makes everything worse?if its people's belief, then i dont think you should make fun of it.in iran as you and everyone know reliegion is a tool to reach to power.many preten they r religious and do not act on it.but in america many believe and thats different from what you mention.in iran people are forced and in america you are not forced to go to church and if you go its you own desecion.its not bush or cheny or karl rove make everyone to go to church and then vote for republican.
