Satellite TV effect

Thomas Friedman's last paragraph in his column, An American in Paris, about why Bush is so popular Iran is exactly what I had said before here: Iranians love anything their regime tries to demonize.

The other reason is that almost all of a dozen satellite TV channels, beamed from California and run by conservative and right-wing Iranians, are constantly portraying Bush in an exaggeratedly unrealistic way.

As if he is the ultimate savior of Iranian people, from the repressive and dysfunctional Islamic regime.

Despite their possible denial, the large amount of positively-biased information about Mr. Bush has even affected the educated middle-class, and many of them are now supporting Bush based on a completely distorted image these satellite TVs provide.

Rumors have it that many of them are funded by neo-conservative groups.

Why do you think I Iranian likes Bush, it must be funded by neocon? I am not a necon ( I don't really think that anyone can describe what neocon is), I am not even a republican, and i like Bush and what he said in his speech last week. First American president who mentioned the word "Koran" in his inaguaration speech. Not bad!

"Rumors have it that many of them are funded by neo-conservative groups." Oh, I don't doubt it for a second. I tuned in one day to hear a Richard Perle interview ... the host of the show lobbed softball after softball. Do Iranians like this stuff?

If you don't like George Bush Doctrine, don't impose your idea on your reader. You have to be fair. George Bush is not what I read all the time in your blogs. Its fine if you don't like him, as it is fine for me not to like liberals! I can come up with hell lot more reasons not to like liberals than what you bring here. I think it is absolutely unreal to think that we can change the regime without any kind of help from the U.S. government. Even the Revolution happened after Carter showed the green light to the opposition groups, fighting against the Shah. I think neo-conservative is as dangerous as liberalism. And by the way, Bush is not a neo-conservative; he is a compassionate conservative.

You don't like Bush. fine. just get over it! There are a lot of intelligent people, some more than you, who support him by using their own reason. Just because YOU can't understand their view point doesn't make it stupid. Stupid is your continous struggle, steeped in conspiracy theories, to demonize a popular president who you don't like personally. (or maybe becuase you have recently discovered you haapen to be very "intellectual") You are getting extremely boring and even paranoid in this.
