New aggressive approach failed
Everyone is shocked that China and Russia suddenly agreed on referring Iran to the Security Council. I'm chocked too. All odds were against this, in my mind and I guess this is a great achievement by the EU3 and the US.
Now, Kayhan, the hard line newspaper who's always backed the new aggressive negotiation approach and cruised the former team, suddenly shows dissatisfaction with the new situation and seemed completely surprised.
In its daily satire piece, they mock the Chinese for their sudden shift and in its editorial, written by Hossein Shariatmadari, strongly suggests that withdrawing from NPT is the most feasible choice Iran has now.
Among the public, based on some of the blogs I've seen (Bahman's for instance), people are surprised too. They were not expecting the new approach, given the strong ties between China, Russia and Iran, would fail.
To be honest, I'm personally very surprised.

i'm a chinese too.haha, this post got a potential to be a huge hit. it seems that every post will begin with the same sentence"i'm a chinese/i'm from china."anyway, i dont know much about muslim. but i know about nuclear weapon, iran dont have the right to develop nuclear weapon, china dont have the right, even USA dont have the right.political correct comes from politcal freedom. while u have political correct,u dont need nuclear weapon.

Is is really? We cann't find the news in most chinese newspaper about what you said. Maybe i don't care polotics much.
But what i must say is that there are no friends forever, but profit forever.
And I am a chinese too,who lives in Shanghai. Why so many chinese here? :)
Anyway, bless Iran and the people.
---------
I am a Chinese but living in Australia recently. I also do not think Iran has the urgency and necessity to develop nuclear. If most countries think nuclear for Iran would be a problem, it could be a real problem. And it's very dangerous to withdraw from NPT. If this comes true, Iran would lose the trust of world people who are eager for peace and would be under big trouble.
But I still feel scorn for China government betraying Iran. I feel sorry.

I am chinese too.
I don't think that's a good ideal that Iran have nuclear weapons.
And I don't think Iran have any necessity to develop civil-use nuclear technology.Iran have enough oil,Iran have no energy resources problem.
yes,There is NO evidence of any development for nuclear weapons in Iran.
But Who believe Iran face gaint risk to develop nucelear technology just prove it have "right"?
it's just an excuse,an unbelievable excuse.

the USA should check and explain why Israel can have nuclear bomb. The international society should take action to Israel for this issue.
Israel is very dangerouse nation and it is easy for Israel to use nuclear bomb. Why? because Israel is small country, but have many many enemy whose country is bigger than Isreal. So Israel will use nuclear bomb to their enemy.
So Israel is very dangerouse than Iran. If Iran have nuclear weapon, Iran will prevent Israel to use nuclear weapon.
---------
I am Chinese. I am very sorry that Chinese goverment did not support your country for this issue.
Most of Chinese people wish Iran would have nuclear weapon and have full reason just because Iran also is a big country.
Regarding chinese goverment, they did the wrong things. they are fearing USA. If Chairman Mao is still alive, this great man will transfer a bomb to Iran.

What kept the whole world safe during the cold war days was an understanding, on both the russian and american fronts, that nuclear weapons should never be used because the repructions of acting loosly with them are just too grave. Iran (at least the current islamic rooled one) does not share that view and will have no problem of emplying such weapons, and should not be allowed to have them. Iran and the west are walking down a path that the end of wchich is war between them. there is no way to prevent that. Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons, and since it is unlikely they will give them up freely, a conflict is inevitable(unfortunently, i should add). The passing of the subject to the UN scurity council is just one step in this all too well known and horrifying dance between the two power centers. What will the end result of this conflict be? you can never know for sure, but my guess is that one can sum it up in three words: "Duck and Cover".

To Isabel: Iran has repeatidly stated that it will not develop nuclear weapons. There is NO evidence of any development for nuclear weapons in Iran. WE iranians are also very happy not to have nuclear weapons. But it is our right to have nucelar technology for civil use. The US and Europe are denying us this right.

My name is Isabel, I am 30 years old and from Germany, and I'm reading this blog and the comments with great interest. As you probably know, Germany is obliged to NOT own nuclear weapons - and know what? We're even HAPPY about that!! At the time, we're even trying to shut down our nuclear power stations and replace them by wind or water power stations because the danger that arises from radioactivity is just too high. Nuclear weapons in particular can't be pointed at an individual (which would be bad enough) - they devestate just everything and everyone.
Is it justified or necessary to own such a weapon ??? And, Hoder, the wish to possess them might be "understandable" - but is it really desirable to reach sovereignty by being a threat to mankind ??? In Germany, a sovereign country, we have founded this on other values than weapons and ethnic hatred - I, as a young mother, surely do not want to see anything like the Holocaust (yes, it existed - there's lots of evidence!!) ever happen again. We are living on the same planet, we are neighbors, and we'll just have to get along with each other, don't you think?
Dammit, threatening is shit when you should HUG !!!!
Everyone who may read this - please think about it!

And supplying nukes a country led by someone as patently insane as Ahmadinejad who has made public his desire to see Israel wiped off the map and denies the Holocaust is going to contribute to world peace in what way, Bill from Shenzhen? Right now, the Iranians are focussing on the Jewish and Christian "infidels". Do you have any idea what they think of non-Muslim Chinese? How long do you think it will take the Iranians to start funding jihad in China to help their Chinese Muslim brethren?
---------
Surprise on your part indicates that you and most Iranians don't know the reality of the situation.
Iran is headed into a major confrontation which the country's leadership is responsible for.
---------
Ahmadinejad is trying to endear himself with his nuclear program to Hamas, putting iranians in danger in the process.
By the way, can you offer any insight on the arrests of the bus drivers and/or their family in iran?
---------
I'm a Chinese.I live in Shenzhen in the south of China.I think Chinese people is absolutely on the side of Iranian people.Absolutely! We all need a peaceful world.
