Ah Canada

To know how Canadians are proud of their Citizens in a global perspective, let me inform you how interested the CBC in interviewing me.

Two journalists from the CBC radio, yesterday, emailed me and asked my contact information to talk to me. About my taboo-breaking visit to Israel which could have almost been impossible, had I not had a Canadian passport, and had I not met another Canadian who lived in Israel in London?

No, you're absolutely wrong. They have no idea what a blog is, let alone be interested in achievements by their citizens.

Two Canadians, meeting in a blogging conference in London, UK, getting together in Israel, making bridges between people in two talked-about. All because of having a Canadian citizenship. Wouldn't this make a fantastic Canadian story?

I know. It's not their fault. They're just Canadian.

To be honest, I'm very disappointed with the Canadians, in general.

>Or Israelis when they looked at you under a >microscope at the airport like some alien life form >from outer space. You seem to be unaware that this is standard procedure. You do not need a "wrong name" or the "wrong looks" to be scrutinized when boarding a plane in Tel Aviv, they do it to everyone.

I agree with Ali that you should read your comments before posting them: "how interested the CBC (is)(?) in interviewing me," "who lived in Israel in London" (which country/city are you talking about?), "in (the) achievements of their citizens (?)," "making bridges between people in two talked-about(?)"... I guess you're not a Canadian citizen after all, no need to worry about things!

"I know. It's not their fault. They're just Canadian". What does that mean? Are you kidding yourself thinking that you're in Israel because YOU ARE NOT holding a Canadian passport? Ridiculous. But maybe it's not your fault. You're just not Canadian.

Dude, that's true. It is all because of your Canadian citizenship. Of course it is. Or how else you could visit that country? Using your suspecious relationships in Iran?! And what do you think you have achieved for the Canadians to be proud of? Sit down and think, there are many Iranians in Canada who have struggled and accomplished a lot. And of course many Canadian non-immigrants who are to be proud of. You are too...???!!!!???? I don't know yet...

you have every right to be disappointed. Many of us are that's for certain. The country has been in the grips of elites that have treated it as their own little project, CBC being one of those elites.

"I know. It's not their fault. They're just Canadian. To be honest, I'm very disappointed with the Canadians, in general." While the situation does sound frustrating - although I'm not sure I understand exactly what happened - this is still probably not the best way to win over the Canadian media. Or your Canadian readers, for that matter. And who are these Canadians in general, anyway?

I'm not sure which one I found the most disapointing: Canada or Canadians. Both are equally vain. Anyhow, my Canadian passport is for sale. I kid you not. I want nothing to do with them. They can have their citizenship back, especially given how I never wanted it in the first place.

Hossein, Maybe you should try writing in hebrew or maybe read your work before posting it.

What's up with this rant? You are disappointed with the people who gave you the privilege to live in a safe, tolerant, rich society and travel around the world without hurdles for the rest of your life? You didn't say you were "disappointed" with Americans when they gave the boot at the border. Or Israelis when they looked at you under a microscope at the airport like some alien life form from outer space. At least explain yourself when you make such general statements or be discounted at best.

Why should we care when you seem to refer to "Canadians" in third person?

The is another aspect to the connection between Israel-Canada-Passports. Israelis seem to like Canadian passports! See here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/208368.stm
