The t-shirt and the song on The Hour
If you watched my brief appearance on CBC's Tv show, The Hour tonight and were wondering where you can get your own I Love Tehran t-shirt, you can actually buy it online at ILoveTehran.com.
I'm trying to convince my friends who are behind I love Tehran t-shirt to do something similar for Baghdad, Kabul, Beirut.
And, also to buy a copy of O-Hum's album, you can contact them through their official website. The track is titled Darvish and it's one of their first tracks totally recorded in Shahram Shahrbaf's basement.
Oh, and to know more about the content of the interview, please check the following links out:
- My piece on why Iran Needs Nuclear Weapons on my blog at the Washington post
- A directory of Iranian blogs in English
- How I got into trouble with the Iranian security service on my last visit to Iran last summer
- How my blog helped an American border secuirty officer denying my entrance to the U.S.
- Why I went to Israel and what I did over there
- More about my background and writings on Wikipedia
And in case you missed the show, you can watch it online too until tomorrow night, I guess.

Um, I'm putting in a vote for a "I love Quetta" t-shirt. I know, doesn't have the stature of some of the other key cities in "the war", but I lived there for 2 years. I loved it. And now the media keeps saying that this is where the Taliban is hiding out. So, yeah, "I love Quetta" please!

Hello everybody,
This is a comment which has nothing to do with Hosseins Posting. I am a student of social and cultural anthropology in Vienna and I am currently writing my master thesis about the Internet communication of Iranian political groups in exile. Hossein's weblog is one of the Websites I am trying to analyze and I wanted to know if anyone of you (Hosseins readers) doesn't want his or her comments to be analyzed. I am treating the comments that anonymously of course but perhaps someone of you doesnt want his comments being published in a master thesis. I am analyzing the comments of the last 4 months, so please tell me, if someone of you doesnt want his comment being mentioned in my research.
Thank you very much.
Best regards, Liza

I just put your post about the US border in my humble new blog in Spanish. Astonished that police check the Internet in borders. But no wonder, I've being travelling through Europe last months for a project and I am sick of the humiliating controls that made me reminisce on nazism. Your blog really interests me, so I did put a link on mine.
Congratulations
Bel

Your interview was so amazing. You were talking with so much confidence and keep it up. Thankfully you did not wear that green jacket trademark of yours this time and I appreciate very much! A human needs a little bit of change, for god sake. By the way, do you still keep that?
Now lets talk about "I love Tehran!". First of all, you do not like Iran, but only you like Tehran?! You could have better ideas like having flags on your T-shirt, etc. And besides, what is so good about polluted noisy Tehran with so much traffic jams? It is listed as one of the 10th worst city in the world to live in! Once Teharn was popular for its nice weather and beautiful gardens, but you see now gardens being destroyed by Sepah Pasdaran, variety of large or small goverment organizations, land sharks, land developers, etc. Teharan is really so nice, isn't it ?
I agree with almost most of your ideas that was broadcasted, but not certainly about nuclear issues!
If Islamic Republic gets its hands on nukes, there will be a complete disaster for not only the region but also for the whole world! Just imagine if Hezbollah of Lebanon or Hamas of Palestine have nukes the next day! I can not imagine about human rights issues inside Islamic Republic. They hang people so ruthlessly in the "public" almost on daily basis, and after having nuclear weapons, no nation can stop them for a long period of time, so probably they will hang twice as that many people that they used to! That will be so wonderful, right?
Yes, we have a "choice", and that is to not persue NW. You did not argue your case well based on reality on the ground but mostly based on emotions.
You need to support your arguments in such a way that ensure there will be a better Iran not the worst!

I don't, in particular, agree with the message of an "I love Tehran" t-shirt. I am not sure what your intention was in wearing it. . . you mentioned something about it being "anti-war" but such a message is nothing of the sort.
Such a t-shirt proliferates nationalism. You have chosen a side based on an allegance to a country. This is precisely the mindset of the thousands of Americans post-9/11 sporting slogans such as "United We Stand" or their own "I love NY" shirts. The message is not one of unity, but rather of allying yourself with a particular side in the conflict, in this case based on national allegance.
It promotes division and in particular is chauvanistic.
I also disagree with this idea that Iran "needs" nuclear weapons. Such a stance reminds me of the tone of the zealots in Iran.

Great appearance. you know you're cool when you get an invitation from Strombo :) It was interesting to listen to your ideas about why Iran "needs" nuclear weapons and I agree with you that NW will certainly be a deterrent to US threats. I'm just not sure if things will get better for average Iranians when Iran will finally get NW!
