BBC Two's Recent Anti-Iranian Bias

I've long wanted to write something about the suspicious biased documentaries aganst Iran that the BBC Two has aired recently. Until I finally sit down and write about one or two of them in detail, here is a rough list:

  1. Iran: A Murder Mystery: Sunday, 15 February, 2004 at 2100 on BBC Two
  2. World Weddings: Mohammad and the Matchmaker: Wednesday, 16 June, 2004, at 2200 BST on BBC Two
  3. Iran's Nuclear Secrets: Tuesday, 3 May, 2005 at 2100 BST on BBC Two
  4. Execution Of A Teenage Girl: Thursday 27 July 2006, 9.00-10.00pm BBC Two
  5. Will Israel bomb Iran?: Tuesday, 10 October, 2006 at 21.50 BST on BBC Two
  6. This World: Kidneys For Sale: Tuesday, 31 October, 2006 at 2150 GMT on BBC Two

Three hour-long documentaries in one year on one single country is quite amazing. I hope I can get a chance soon and write about at least one of them.

Erm, I saw two of them. The one about kidney donations was moving and completely apolitical, and any Westerners viewing it could only have come away with feelings of shared humanity with the young Iranians shown in it. I happen to think that there's a strong argument for introducing the kind of payments for kidney donation (you could call it expenses, or whatever) into Britain, where many people die for lack of a donor. Who knows, maybe this could turn out to be a case of a Western country learning from Iran?

Eide shoma mobaarak. There is no need to take a defensive stance on this. I have seen some of the programs you are referring to. For example "Kidneys For Sale". This program shows what poverty drives people to do. If it is in Iran or elswhere is doesen't matter to me. The show about Israel bombing Iran says more about some people in Israel than about Iran I think. Regarding the unequality between women and men in the Iranian legal system it is not unknown even for Iranians.

Iran and the british media http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=EDW20070324&articleId=5168 Just another example amongst countless ones! It's all so damned obvious, who is in permanent "need" to lie (!) and to construct any kind of guess and speculations in order to justify on and on their ongoing lunatic "war against terror" and making the dumb believe they are about to make the "world" a safer place. The contrary is the reality! ... as every halfways normal person is able to recognize.

First, Norooz Mobaarak. Second, Aaaaack! That drives me crazy when the press does that. I've noticed the opposite lately in Maclean's and Time. I'm seeing articles about the side of Iran that is like us. Journalists here are humanizing Iran for people who need that.
