'Free Haleh' and its links to 'pro-democracy' projects
Did you know that 'Free Haleh', the most active online campaign about Esfandiari's prosecution in Iran, is run by the pro-Bush, pro-Iraqi invasion, Zainab Al-Swaiji of the American Islamic Council? The other noteworthy fact is that Free Haleh is hosted by Middle East Youth (its staff), another neo-conservative-leaning 'pro-democracy' project.

Yes, it's absurd that the people who purport to want to free her are by their very coalition making the charges against her seem true. The calls for her release should come from international civil society, that is, independent academics and activists, not pro-imperialist, pro-Zionist groups.

despite all the rhetoric, i sincerely doubt that the americans could seriously contemplate attacking iran today. the paranoid comments of some arab leaders of late is mere posturing, as iran, with its current leadership, is far too popular among the ordinary populations of our arab neighbours for their leaders to contemplate war with iran - with the possible exception of the saudis.
