hello world: a weblog by a couple of iranian bloggers

Hello World ! is a multi-author weblog written by some Iranian guys. They all have Persian weblogs as well as this new English weblog. Although I don't like long and messy posts and dark designs, this is one of the first English weblogs by Iranians.

plastic: blogging for freedom in the middle east

Plastic: Blogging For Freedom In The Middle East If anything, it's a sign of how Shi'ite Iran differs from Wahhabist Saudi Arabia, with its uncensored web access, and a culture in which women are allowed to educate themselves and learn to use computers.

bush labeled iran 'axis of evil' as a thank you

Thomas Friedman, Tehran: "Not a single Iranian was involved in Sept. 11, not a single Iranian has been found in Al Qaeda, and Iran's nuclear reactor is under international inspection. Iran has the most democracy and freest press of any Muslim country in the Middle East. And as a thank you, President George W. Bush labeled Iran part of the 'axis of evil.'"

o-hum and the end of delusions

O-HUM was almost the first Iranian serious rock band. They started a few years ago with an album all lyrics by Hafez, but haven't been able to get permission either to publish their album or to have a concert. Now they are in Canada, losing their last hopes. Tehran Avenue has a report on that

Amazon came to Canada, finally. Isn't that wonderful? Indigo guys will have a hardtime competeing with this online retail giant. Indigo had about $400 million sales last year, while Amazon had $3 billion!
The good news is that now I can eran money using Amazon associates program in my popular Persian weblog. Or even here...

immigration and terrorism

Terrorism and immigration; to me they both are outcomes of the world wide inequality. There a small fraction out of 6bn population on this planet who have access to baic education, enough food, health and welfare, while the remaining majority is desparatly trying to reach those resources.
So the majority is divided into two categories: Some of them start to think of flying to developed countries, where they can meet their basic needs; others begin to belive that the reason of all their problems is rich peoples wealth, helathy ones' health and educated ones' awareness; so they try to destory all those people and all those resources.

iran vs. radical islamic states

Metafilter Comments: "Iran is the model we should want future radical Islamic states to follow. Eventually, people become sick of the repression and start demanding more rights. The US should also seek closer ties with Iran. Unfortunately, I don't see that as a likelyhood as long as Bush is in power."

iran's third generation

Thomas L. Friedman, NYTimes: "This Third Generation of Iranians is quite different from its counterpart in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is a country getting younger, poorer, more Islamic and more anti-American; as young Saudis react against what they consider a corrupt, irreligious, pro-American regime. Iran is a country getting younger, poorer, less Islamic and less anti-American; as young Iranians react against an anti-American theocracy, isolating them from the world."

deutschland goinig to semi-final

There is no "star" among Germans, however they are a fantastic team. They attack superbly and defend wonderfully. They use the whole green field while attacking, as if they are not 11 players in there. The only weak point is a professional striker. (So happy that Janker couldn't play this match. He is way too far from a first or even second class striker. Where was Bierhof BTW?) They will definitely reach the semi-final.

how tehran looks like

Many people think that Iran is something like Iraq, only instead of "Q", it has "N" in the end. But this is totally wrong. Take a look at a website dedicated to photo from Tehran, the capital for Iran.

wi-fi based broadband for iran

I think the best solution for the countries like Iran, who do not have cables or anything like that, could be Wi-Fi based networks. Those networks can easily and with a low cost cover Iranian cities.

Majid Tehranian, THE IRANIAN: "But President Bush still lives in another era of history, the era of national sovereignty and national solutions to global problems. He has turned the struggle against global terrorism into a war against particular states, in the old fashioned way."

globaliztion

It's almost impossible to say something in your own language and the Internet world can hear you, unless your voice is in English. So, this is the reason I started to keep an English weblog of mine here, beside my Persian weblog. As the topic suggests I write about a wide range of issues here. My main purpose is to express how I, as an young Iranian who lives in Canada, see the world outside and let other people know about my ideas and my view.
